37 Weeks Pregnant:
Find out what is happening to your body and baby
You may be a little nervous or anxious about the labor process, it might be starting to play on your mind a little more, especially if you are to be a first time mom.
Likewise, you could be feeling confident and excited, or relaxed and ready! However you are feeling, labor is not too far away now!
Check out this video about what is happening to your baby in the third trimester:
So what's happening to your baby in your womb at this stage of the pregnancy?
Well basically your baby will have a cheese style coating on it which it will actually swallow! This cheese coating has been protecting your babies skin as it grows, but with impending birth it is time for it to go!Your babies first bowel movement will be very black, it will look like tar! And basically it is the cheese like coating it has swallowed whilst in your womb that passes during this first bowel movement once born.
You should be trying to stay as calm and relaxed as possible at this stage of the pregnancy, and concentrate on eating healthily for your baby who is almost ready to show his or her face!
If you start having contractions 5 minutes apart, you should get to the hospital.
If you have consistent leakage that fills your pad and is soaked in an hour, it could mean your water has broken, this is also another sign that you should go to the hospital.
If you have bright red vaginal bleeding like a heavy period, you should also go straight to the hospital.
What to do before baby is born
You could do some last minute shopping and read up techniques to help you in labor - it doesn't hurt to be too prepared!
