Pregnancy Week 1: What's Happening Inside Your Body?

Pregnancy Week 1:
What's Happening Inside Your Body?

pregnancy week 1
Pregnancy Week 1: Would you be shocked to know that pregnancy in week 1 is not actually counted as pregnancy? Does this sound confusing? Let me explain...
Because of science, doctors like to have an official conception date to go by - it could be a lot harder to know when you have conceived if you were trying to get pregnant a lot of times in the month leading up to conception, so to make things easier, they begin pregnancy from day one of your cycle - which is the date you normally get flowing red blood on your period.
For this reason, a lot of due dates aren't right! Did you know that only 3 to 5% of mothers give birth on their actual due date that is given to them?
So what's going on in your body at this stage of the gestational period during pregnancy in week 1.

Here's a short video about what happens in pregnancy from week 1 to week 4:

What Happens In Your Body During The First Week Of Pregnancy?

So... what's happening during your pregnancy in week 1?
Well, would you believe that your egg hasn't even been fertilized by a sperm yet. In fact it is still sitting inside of one of your ovaries waiting to be released into your fallopian tubes!
It is only when it releases that you might get lucky enough to have your egg fertilized by a sperm making a beacon towards your egg inside of your fallopian tube.
During this time implantation hasn't even taken place, in fact that won't even happen till around 7 to 10 days after the egg makes its way into your fallopian tubes.
Implantation is when the embryo (which has become this after the sperm successfully penetrates the egg) burrows and attaches to the wall of your uterus.
Even than you may still not be able to tell you are pregnant.
There are pregnancy tests that can test really early, but as a guideline, it's better to sit through the two-week wait and test once you know your period is due again. Only than will you get a much more accurate result.
Once you do know you are pregnant, you could be nervous, excited, confident, unsure, scared, terrified and over-joyed all at once! These are all completely normal feelings if you have just found out you are pregnant!
Good-luck if you are already pregnant and just trying to find out what your body went through at this time! And if you are trying to get pregnant, research is a good thing. It's great to know what to expect!
