Charting your fertility is one way to discover when you ovulate, and hence discover when you are highly fertile.
There are a number of way you can work out when you are going to ovulate.

Check out this video about fertility charting which will help you understand better how you can chart to predict when you are most fertile:

Working Out When You Are Highly Fertile

Use any of the following techniques to discover when you are likely to ovulate. You can use one of the techniques or a combination of them.

Check Your Cervical Mucus

Your cervical mucus can be very telling. It's your bodies own way of telling you when you are most fertile.
It's the type of mucus that is most friendly to sperm. We all get different types of mucus during our cycles - some types are acidic and not friendly to sperm, others may create a barrier to sperm, stopping them from getting through the cervix.
You can chart throughout your cycle the different types of mucus you see, to work out if there is a pattern of when your body is fertile.

Check Your Cervix

Your cervix is another thing you can check to see when you are most fertile. Your cervix is another way your body indicates to you that your body is ready for conception.
When your cervix is positioned low soft and open it can allow sperm through so that they can reach your fallopian tubes. At some points during your cycle your cervix will be positioned high, closed and hard - stopping sperm in their tracks from entry into your fallopian tubes.

Use a Body Basal Thermometer

Using a basal body thermometer (bbt) is one of the most popular ways to fertility charting methods. AUsing a BBT is relatively inexpensive (mine cost $10). You can use your thermometer daily to take your temperature. After ovulation your bodies temperature actually rises, so it's a good way to tell when you have ovulated.

Use an Ovulation Predictor Kit

An ovulation predictor kit (OPK) is another way you can work out when you ovulate. It is a little bit more expensive, but the benefit in using one of these kits is they give you some notice as to when you are going to ovulate.
Usually 48hrs before you ovulate, so that you can time intercourse and give yourself the best chance at conceiving in your most fertile time.

Use an Ovulation Calculator

An ovulation calculator is just a quick way you can find out a rough idea of when you should ovulate according to how long your cycle is.
