Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
Assisted Conception Procedure
The Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) Procedure is becoming more and more popular and recognized as a great procedure to help couples with conception.
In-fact, this is usually a good assisted conception treatment option if IVF has previously failed.
Check out this video about transferring frozen embryos:
What Is FET?
Basically when a couple goes through IVF there are excess embryos that are created. These leftover embryos that aren't transferred to the uterus in IVF can actually be frozen for future use.
When only a single frozen embryo is transferred you have the additional benefit of not having to worry about the chance of twins or triplets being conceived.
You may think having twins or triplets would be wonderful, but there are so many pregnancies that have complications because of there being more than one baby being carried, and twins are almost always born earlier than going to the ideal full term duration.
In multiple pregnancy, there's also a risk that your baby may have some problems if they are having to share the womb with another growing body.
The Lead Up To Transfer
of A Frozen Embryo
Usually before transfer of the embryo happens, the female will be given hormone medication to prepare the lining of the uterus for implantation.
