Laporoscopy Procedure:
Think you might need surgery for fertility?
For example you could suffer an ectopic pregnancy which if your pregnancy has progressed far enough along, you may require removal of the abnormal fetus; or perhaps you have bad endometriosis or cysts or fibroids that require removal.
A laporoscopy (laparoscopy) doesn't always involve the removal of something, it can be performed for the purpose of simply inspecting to find problems that can't be found through external examinations.
You could have problems with your urinary system such as appendicitis.
Check out this video that shows you in 3D what is involved with laparoscopy surgery:
The Lap Procedure In More Detail
A video camera will help to view what the doctor is looking for. The camera is placed through a plastic tube into the incision.
The benefit of having a small incision with the camera to do the viewing means that no longer do they need to make big incisions for proper viewing.
This means you will recover quicker, have less post operative discomfort, a shorter hospital stay and a much smaller scar to talk about! There may also be less internal scarring as opposed to when done the old way when standard open surgery was performed.
Laparoscopic surgery isn't something to be scared about. You will be under general anesthetic (asleep), whilst the procedure takes place, and therefore won't need to worry whilst everything is going on!
