Alcohol and Pregnancy Can You Drink when Trying to Fall Pregnant?

Alcohol and Pregnancy
Can You Drink when
Trying to Fall Pregnant?

'Alcohol and pregnancy' don't go hand-in-hand, and neither does 'alcohol and conceiving'.

Alcohol is best avoided all-together if you are serious about trying to conceive. If you do like to enjoy a drink, or few, this news may be very disheartening to you!

alcohol and fertility
Yes, it's true women have gotten pregnant before while drinking, but if you are having trouble trying to conceive, you need to consider that if you have been trying for a while, this could possibly be one of the factors affecting your body, and therefore hindering your chances to become pregnant. If you are having trouble conceiving, it's best if you especially avoid binge drinking or getting drunk - our bodies are so sensitive and can really be thrown out of balance, even by too much drinking!

Check out this video about the combination of alcohol and pregnancy. It shows how drinking whilst pregnant is dangerous

Still Not Convinced
To Stop Drinking?

For some, the idea of not drinking is inconceivable, if you are still not convinced, and are still struggling to believe what it can do, consider these facts:
- Alcoholism is associated with hypothalmic-pituitary-ovarian dysfunction which can result in amenorrhea, that is the absence of your period.
- Excessive alcohol is also associated with anovulation (lack of ovulation), luteal phase dysfunction, where your endometrial lining develops abnormally, and also hyperprolactinemia.
- Alcohol usage when trying to conceive poses many risks from spontaneous abortion through to impaired fetal growth and development.
These are just a few ways alcohol can impact on your chances of conceiving, but believe me there are many more ways it can impact your ability to conceive a baby.
Furthermore, if you do manage to become pregnant (fingers crossed!), it's in yours and your babies best interest to stop drinking for the duration of the pregnancy too. So consider this 'practice time!'
Drinking alcohol during pregnancy has been cited as the most common cause of birth defects in babies, so if you are pregnant, don't risk it.
Likewise if you are trying to get pregnant, you could be slowing the whole process down, as the body is very intricate and everything needs to be exactly right for pregnancy to happen.
It's not just the fact of trying to get pregnant that you need to think about too, because once you are pregnant it's even more important to consider the baby growing inside you.
Not convinced? Check out the videos below than.

Check out this video on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to give you an idea of what can happen if you drink whilst pregnant:

Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide that because you are responsible for your own actions.

Here's one more video about the affects of FAS on your baby once born:

Alcohol and pregnancy. It isn't a good combination.
Just remember, you can decide for yourself, but the baby can't make that decision. They are in your hands.
