Give your hormones a boost!

Progesterone is an essential hormone. Without it you can't become pregnant or sustain a pregnancy.
Produced by the corpus luteum, this hormone helps build and maintain the lining of your uterus so that the fertilized egg can implant and continue to grow there comfortably.
Without this essential hormone, the uterus is a very hostile place and no embryo will be able to grow and form there.

Here's a great short video about progesterone, and why your body needs it to have a baby:

What Does This Hormone Do?

progesterone
- Its primary function is to maintain the lining of the uterus which allows a fertilized egg to be able to attach itself to the non-hostile lining and grow.- It helps make your cervical mucus more friendly to sperm so it can swim easier
- It allows the embryo to grow and to survive
- It prevents your immunity from rejecting the egg as something foreign and allows for the developing baby to continue growing through to a fetus in your pregnancy- It also helps your body to use fat for energy throughout the duration of your pregnancy
- Prevents secondary sexual development
- Increases your sexual enjoyment around ovulation time
- helps to increase new bone formation
- normalizes blood clotting
- and also forms a protection against endometrial, breast, ovarian and prostate cancer.

A Bit More About This
Essential Fertility Hormone

This hormone comes into play after ovulation, in the second half of your cycle, during the luteal phase.
The hormone rises in the blood following ovulation, and you can tell if your levels are rising by using a basal body thermometer to check if your temperature is elevated slightly.
If your levels are right they should continue to elevate between 5 and 10 days after ovulation, and then, if you aren't pregnant it will decline and peter off until you get your next period.
What if you think you are pregnant?
Well typically your levels will stay high, and your temperature will show a third elevation, so instead of the lining of your uterus shedding and a period coming, your uterus will continue to line itself with the hormone making it a very appealing and welcoming place for the fertilized egg to grow.
