Uterine Fibroid symptoms can be hard to detect. That's because often there are no symptoms, or the symptoms are only mild.

Fibroids are living tissue that rely on blood and oxygen for survival.

Up to 1 in 5 women can have them in their child-bearing years. The cause of them is unknown, but what we do know is the hormone estrogen has a lot to do with it growing.

The good news is, fibroids do not cause any permanent damage to any of the organs they may grow on or near.

Some symptoms may be:

- increased menstrual bleeding.

- pressure from them growing, or sometimes in more rarer circumstances pain in the pelvis.

- the uterus may enlarge making you feel full or like you have pressure around that area.

- in some cases women have fibroids that grow towards the back causing some lower back pain, or putting pressure on the rectum which in turn can cause constipation.

- Intercourse can also be a little uncomfortable if you have large fibroids.

- If they grow towards the front of the uterus it can make you want to urinate more regularly then usual, due to the pressure on the bladder.

Non-Surgical Treatment

A hysterectomy is one way of fibroid removal, but of course, this isn't a possibility if you wish to have children.

You generally will only need treatment if you are in pain or experiencing horrible symptoms, which for the majority of women they don't. So if this sounds like you, don't worry about it too much.

Sometimes over-the-counter pain relievers will suffice, but other ways of management are to make changes in your lifestyle.
This can include making changes to your diet , or incorporating some exercise into your weekly routine.If you are in pain and suffering uterine fibroid symptoms, you can choose to wait it out. Normally symptoms ease plenty once menopause comes along.
