Reactions to Infertility -
How To Handle It
People can have many different reactions to infertility. But what about those you tell your news to? Knowing how to handle their reactions to your not-so-great news is a whole other problem in itself!
You can share your best reaction someone has had to your news of infertility at the bottom of this page.
Sadly, many infertile couples keep their problems to themselves – which in turn can make them feel even more alone. In a way they are isolating themselves from everyone.
Is this you and your partner?
Are you too embarrassed to tell others about being infertile?
Do you feel that 'being infertile' is just too personal to share with others?
So how to you handle people's ignorant reactions to infertility?
Let's start by a few examples of what you are probably up against!
I Bet You've Heard Some Of These Responses Before!
“My other half only had to look at me and I would fall pregnant!”,
or: “We weren't even trying!”,
Better still: “Just stop trying and it will happen!”
Top it off with: “Why don't you just relax or go on a holiday and it will just happen!” and it's enough to make you want to slap someone!
Share Your Cringe-Worthy Story!
We've all been there...You're wondering if you should tell the person you are talking to that you are struggling to fall pregnant?
Feeling brave, you muster up some courage and tell them your plight... but then you are hit squarely with a reaction that isn't exactly what you bargained for!
Infact their response may make you cringe, feel like slapping someone, or even make you feel like curling up in a corner and crying!
Does this sound familiar? Have you ever experienced a moment like that? Share your story with us!!
What happened when you told someone you were trying to fall pregnant!
