Fertility and Exercise
Go Hand in Hand

Fertility and exercise are a great combination, but like anything else in life, it is never good to over-do exercise as this can adversely affect your hormonal balance and even impair ovulation (due to a lack of body fat).

Striking a good balance of exercise will help your chances of conception.

Exercise should be done in moderation once you do manage to get pregnant.

Overdoing exercise when you are pregnant can impair placental and foetal growth, so try to strike a good balance once you do get pregnant.

Good choices of exercise could be:

  • Yoga
  • Pilates
  • Aqua Aerobics
  • Brisk Walking
  • Exercising at the Gym
Consult with your local doctor to make sure what is okay for you.

How Often Should You Exercise Than?

Try to exercise atleast three times a week for 30 to 40 minutes. If you are out of shape or haven't exercised for a long time, start small. Don't set out to break records straight away.
If you go from doing nothing to pushing yourself to breaking point overnight, you can get an injury that will take some time to heal, and than you will set yourself back.

If you are having problems maintaining a healthy weight, exercise is one good way to help curb your weight and increase your confidence.

Exercising also helps release endophins putting you in a better state of mind, making you feel more positive and therefore reducing your stress levels, which can be elevated during this difficult time trying to get pregnant.
Moderate and regular exercise not only makes you feel good it helps you lead a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle too.
Exercise can help occupy your mind and give you something to focus on and enjoy whilst on your journey to getting pregnant.
When you exercise it releases endorphins in your body. It eases stress, and also increases your mental alertness, isn't it worth making some lifestyle changes for those benefits alone?
