Toxins - What to Avoid
So You Can Get Pregnant Easier Or Simply Live Healthier

smoking

As human beings, we are surrounded by toxins – they are in our food, water, air, and homes. Knowing which ones can impair your fertility can help you to avoid them and give you a better chance at becoming pregnant.

Even low levels of exposure to certain toxins can give you health problems and even build up in your body accumulating in your tissues overtime.
For example, do you know cans of tuna contain mercury, and too much mercury can actually decrease your fertility?
I personally know of someone who was trying to become pregnant for years, and after testing, she found out her mercury levels were through the roof!
She ate tuna every single day, and thought she was helping keep her weight in check by doing so, but what she didn't realize was she was building up her mercury levels to phenomenal levels that were preventing her from conceiving.

Toxic foods to be mindful of whilst trying to conceive are:

  • Vinclozolins – this is a fungicide which impairs the development and function of male sexual organs. It may be used on beans, peas, and even grapevines.
  • Methoxychlor (MCX) – found in common pesticides, this is used to kill flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches and other insects. This one can alter a gene in the female reproductive tract and also reduces the ability of the uterus to support the embryo implanting
  • Estrogen Mimics – found in paints, toiletries, pesticides, spermicide’s and even some plastics in water and baby bottles, can contribute to testicular cancer and poor semen quality in the male; and cause or contribute to endometriosis in the female
  • Xenoestrogens – found in most commercial meat and dairy products, one study has shown women with higher concentration of meat and dairy in their diet had an 80-100% higher risk of endometriosis. It should also be noted this one appears in soft plastic food storage containers along with cling wrap (especially once microwaved)
  • Phytoestrogens – found in plants, especially soy, this one has been linked to increased cancer risk, infantile leukaemia, and of course, infertility

Here's a short video on toxic food and how it can affect you:

Toxins can also appear in the form of alcohol, medication, through ill food choices - this includes having nutritional deficiencies in your body from bad food choices along with a high build-up of preservatives in your body as a result of not-so-great food choices too.

Stress, smoking, and toxins accumulating in your body, even harsh household cleaners and bleached sanitary products can all hinder your fertility.
Although you can't avoid them all, you can certainly implement some good dietary changes, along with minimizing your exposure to them and lowering your intake some of them too.
The point is, your lifestyle factors and choices you make could be contributing to your sub-fertility. So keeping the bad stuff out of your life, or cutting it down, may just help you get closer to becoming pregnant.
